Abstract/Notes | As the biggest national oil and gas company, PT. Pertamina (Persero) is responsible to secure the national fuel supply and distribution. One of the critical factors in determining the performance of this activity is the inventory level in each fuel depot. The occurrence of technical issues for six months in one of the fuel depot had increased the number of days where inventory position is critical in the supplied depot. To overcome this problem, alternative supply point is suggested to anticipate any similar future events. The selected alternative supply point is Balongan Fuel Terminal. The selection is based on the tank capacity, mooring facility utilization, and the distance from the original supply point. As for the allocated product to Balongan Fuel Terminal is Pertamax because it has an increasing trend due to the government regulation. In order to receive the allocated supplies, the tank configuration in Balongan needs to be evaluated. Tank configuration evaluation is a complex problem because there are uncertainty of the demand in the supplied depot, ships arrival, as well as loading and unloading time. Therefore the method used to solve this problem is Discrete Event Simulation (DES). By using DES, the scenarios can be performed without disrupting the daily operations. This research proposed a scenario of new tank configuration in Balongan fuel terminal by adjusting the combination of Premium, Pertamax, and Solar tanks. By using the new tank configuration, shipments to Semarang and Tanjung Wangi are assigned from Balongan Fuel Terminal. Such condition reduces the number of inventory critical days in the supplied depot as much as 14.46% and the freight cost is also reduced as much as USD 116,239.06 per year. |
